New to New Zealand from Paris and straight into the pattern shop, is the debut women's pattern range from I Am Patterns. The collection is inspired by Greek Gods, and is aptly named I Am A Goddess. I love this name - it's just what I'm striving for when I sew myself something. Sometimes I achieve it, sometimes I don't. Sometimes it's only in my head! But, hey that's why I sew...
The autumn/winter collection is made up of six pieces - all suitable for either beginner or intermediate sewers. What I love about them is their simplicity. They make for an elegant, timeless wardrobe. Patterns that you can turn to again and again changing the fabrics and colours for the seasons and your taste.
I've already made a couple of Hestia Skirts in cotton batiste fabric plus an Apollon sweater. The skirts are almost on solid rotation with the hot weather - the sweater is waiting for cooler days. On my cutting table is the Artemis coat - I will be making it up in Laundered Linen Denim from the Merchant and Mills fabrics I stock. Autumn chills will need to be kept at bay. It is hot today - but summer will not last forever!
I have already pre-sold a number of these patterns - they are literally flying out the door. So if you are thinking about it....get in soon rather than later. Shop online for I Am Patterns.
She has a thing for stacks of beautiful fabrics, delights in holding something made to last, and respects good craftsmanship. These are the driving forces behind the Miss Maude shop. And here are her musings.
