Miss Maude Sewing is a business run from the delightful village of Greytown, just one hour drive from Wellington, New Zealand. Run by one woman passionate about sewing, craftsmanship, quality, and customer service. Hi, I'm Emma.
I am starting small with the goal of bringing together a beautiful collection of quality sewing supplies. I have spent time living in France which has had a great influence on the Miss Maude store. I only stock what I love to work with and what inspires me to create.
I have been sewing for as long as I can remember and I'm a magpie when it comes to fabric and trims, so it’s quite delightful for me to open a fabric and haberdashery store! I have worked in creative industries, furniture design and business development and have dabbled in fashion design, illustration, photography and pattern making. Since starting sewing at the age of eight, I have sewn most things, from curtains and quilts through to ball gowns and wedding dresses. I hope this little collection of skills and experience will enable me to bring you some of the best fabrics, haberdashery and patterns from around the world and deliver them with great customer service.
And what's in a name? The Miss Maude store was conceived and created while I spent a year living amongst some of New Zealand's most beautiful mountains. Our house was at the foot of Mount Maude - she looked over my shoulder as I worked. She was white when it snowed, green when it rained, and brown when the sun baked her during the long hot summer.
