Spring is a time of new beginnings, and here that means a new fabric collection added to the store. I'm excited to introduce Monaluna Organic Cottons - vibrant and fun prints with co-ordinating solids. The 100% GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) Certified cottons are available in three substrates. A fine lawn; a quality, high thread count poplin; and a wonderfully soft jersey interlock....a little something for everyone.
Monaluna is a small, independent organic fabric company based in California. The company was started in 2010 by Jennifer Moore, a designer and textile artist, out of a desire to bring more sustainable alternatives to the fabric marketplace. And I’m so glad she did. They are simply beautiful.
The prints are fun but sophisticated and oh, so perfect for spring and summer sewing - shirts, tops, dresses, shorts, skirts....something for her, for him or for your little people. The lawns and poplins are also great for quilting, accessories and home decor. So many options...
I’ve made a Fielder Top from two of the lawns (Dusk and Sky) - the lawn is a delight to sew and is ever so light and airy to wear. Perfect for the warmer days arriving. Oh, and the colours match beautifully with the Goodnight Rib in the store…easy!
The two lawns featured here are from the latest Monaluna Collection - where beautiful plum reds, soft pinks and indigo blues come together to create the Wanderlust Collection. Six beautiful lawns that you can purchase individually or as a fat quarter bundle.
My wish list of sewing projects is phenomenally long…there is no way I will ever make a serious dent in it - especially as it grows each day! So to satisfy a few of the creative urges, here’s some of my ideas for what to do with this latest batch of lovely fabrics
Go on, take a look at all the Monanluna Organic Cottons in stock…will some feature in your sewing projects?
She has a thing for stacks of beautiful fabrics, delights in holding something made to last, and respects good craftsmanship. These are the driving forces behind the Miss Maude shop. And here are her musings.
