Workshop : Sew Your Own Shirt

Learn to sew your own classic button up shirt. 

In this two day workshop you will be guided through sewing a classic button up shirt.

Aimee will guide you through classic shirt making techniques to sew the Closet Core Jenna Shirt.  You'll leave with a beautifully crafted shirt and the confidence to tackle shirt making on your own. 

You will learn to sew a traditional shirt collar, cuffs and placket, yoke, and more. 

Set in the idyllic White Swan private dining room, this two day workshop is fully catered and the perfect opportunity for a Sewcation with other like minded makers.  

Skill level - adventurous beginner/intermediate +

You will be using the Jenna Shirt pattern - this is a loose fit shirt, so the focus of the class is sewing techniques, not fit alterations.  

There is a lot to pack in, so you will need to prepare and cut out your fabric before arriving.  We will then get right into the nitty gritty of shirt making! 

About your tutor :
Aimee is a professional tailor and milliner with a career in both apparel manufacturing and bespoke tailoring; we're incredibly privileged to have her here at Miss Maude to share her amazing depth of skills and talent with you.

Where:
The workshop will be held at the White Swan Country Hotel private dining room.  A beautiful space with roaring fire - wonderful winter ambience for two days of sewing indulgence.

Fabric:

We recommend you use a stable cotton fabric for this class.  A cotton poplin/shirting fabric is perfect.   It will make fabric wrangling an easy task leaving you to focus on the sewing skills and techniques.  Choose your own, or choose the option in the drop down box and we'll send you everything you need.  Choose from classic black or white organic cotton poplin. 

Requirements:

• You need to be an adventurous beginner/intermediate sewer.   There will be some independent work required. 
  
• Bring prepared pattern, cut out fabric and notions.  (we will be in touch with more details after you secure your spot)
• You need to bring your own sewing machine and sewing kit.  Please ensure that it is in good working order.

• Maximum of eight - secure your spot early! 

Cancellations:

• Please note that if you choose to cancel your booking for this class, the class fee is non-refundable. You are, however, able to transfer your place to someone else. Please notify us at info@missmaudesewing.co.nz if this is the case.
